What If You Didn't Have to Clean Your Gutters...Ever?

Certain responsibilities come with home ownership. Some of them have to do with maintenance. Take cleaning the gutters, for example. It is a necessary task if you want to maximize gutter life and take full advantage of the protection they offer. But what if you didn't have to clean the gutters... ever?

We have a way to make that happen – installing rain gutter coverings. What are rain gutter coverings? They are screens that fit perfectly into the open space between the roof overhang and the outside edge of the gutter. They keep debris out while still allowing rainwater to flow off the roof and into the gutter system.

Including gutter, coverings seem like a no-brainer for any new gutter installation. But they are also a good idea for existing systems. If you have uncovered gutters on your house, you might want to consider having coverings installed.

The Valley Gets Windy

We live and work here in the Tri-Valley area. We are intimately familiar with the steady summer breezes blowing in from the Pacific on summer evenings. Those breezes have a habit of picking up debris and depositing it in gutter systems.

The debris generally isn't a problem during our hot, dry summers. But come the rainy season, debris buildup can cause gutters to overflow. That means water collecting around the foundation of your house rather than being channeled away in the downspout. That is bad news no matter how you cut it.

Rain gutter coverings are such a simple solution to the summer wind problem. Any debris the wind picks up and carries your way will blow right on by. Meanwhile, the unprotected gutters in your neighborhood will fill up with leaves, twigs, and who knows what else.

Put Away the Ladder

Without gutter coverings installed, you have no other choice but to clean the gutters at least once per year. If you are not doing that, you should be. At any rate, this means pulling out the ladder and getting your hands on a plastic bucket. Then it is up you go to start scooping debris.

It's an unpleasant job; we know. We have done it more times than we care to remember. So it's always a pleasure for us to install rain gutter coverings because we know they mean the end of debris scooping. They allow homeowners to put away the ladder and bucket once and for all.

Proper Installation Is Key

Now that you understand the benefit of rain gutter coverings, it must be made clear that proper installation is key. For starters, you need a product designed for your gutter system. That product needs to be the right size. It needs to be cut, fitted and installed a certain way.

Improper installation could mean gaps. A gutter cover that does not fit snugly could pop off and blow away in a stiff breeze. Other problems can arise if the chosen product is too big, or it is not cut to the right size.

We take great pride in all the work we perform, including gutter cover installation. It doesn't make sense to not do the job right for the simple fact that you eventually have to do it again. We don't do business that way. We treat your property like our own, making sure the job is done right the first time.

If you are not a fan of cleaning out your gutters, give some thought to installing rain gutter coverings. We are happy to do the work for you. Contact us and we will come out and give you an estimate on the job.
